Enrollment Fee (Tuition)

All students will be charged a state-mandated fee of $31 per unit taken. See below for information about additional fees that may apply to certain students, such as nonresident and foreign citizen tuition, and for a notice about an exemption from nonresident tuition for Special Immigrant Visa holders and refugees.

Basic Fees

These quarterly fees are the same for all students.

Campus Center Fee

This mandatory $17.50 fee is used to amortize a federal construction loan for the Campus Center.

If you are enrolled only in off-campus classes and live outside of De Anza's service area, you may submit a written request in person or by e-mail to deanzacashier@deanza.edu to waive the Campus Center fee and provide documents that support your request. Requests will be processed no earlier than the fourth week of the quarter or the third week of summer session.

Health Services Fee

This mandatory $17 fee provides health services on campus. This is not health insurance.

If you depend exclusively upon prayer for healing, you may request that this fee be waived by completing and submitting the Application for Exemption from Student Health Center Fee. You must also provide a written statement of such reliance from an official of your sect, denomination or organization. The waiver is valid for the applicable term that you are requesting.

SmartPass (formerly Eco Pass) Fee

This mandatory fee provides VTA SmartPass service for all eligible students. Part-time students with 0.5 to 5.9 units will be charged $5.75 per quarter, part-time students with 6.0 to 11.9 units will be charged $6.75 per quarter, and full-time students with 12 or more units will be charged $7.75 per quarter. Learn more and get your SmartPass!

DASG Membership Fee

This optional $10 fee supports services, activities and student discounts offered through the De Anza Student Government (DASG) – including free legal advice; athletic, health services and creative arts events; programs and events; discounted AMC movie tickets; diversity programs; student scholarships; college newspaper and leadership opportunities. Payment of the DASG Membership Fee is required to get a DASG Card.

If you do not wish to pay all optional fees, you must submit a written request in person or by email to deanzacashier@deanza.edu. The waiver request must be submitted during the registration period and is valid for the term that you are requesting.

Registration Support Fee

This optional $1.50 fee supports the creation and distribution of the De Anza College Catalogue, online schedule of classes, e-mail communication (including pay-to-stay reminders) and mailing cost of other registration materials.

If you do not wish to pay all optional fees, you must submit a written request in person or by email to deanzacashier@deanza.edu. The waiver request must be submitted during the registration period and is valid for the term that you are requesting.

Student Representation Fee

This optional fee supports California Community College student advocacy. Established under Assembly Bill 1358, this fee helps to address the need to expand student representation and participation locally and on a statewide level. Students will be charged $2 each quarter in fall, winter and spring, with no fee during summer session.

If you do not wish to pay all optional fees, you must submit a written request in person or by email to deanzacashier@deanza.edu. The waiver request must be submitted during the registration period and is valid for the term that you are requesting.

Parking Fees

Parking Fees Waived

Under a temporary policy, students can park free on campus during the 2023-24 academic year, without purchasing a parking permit. (Students should continue to park only in spaces designated for students.)

To avoid paying for a parking permit each day, students may pay a quarterly or annual fee for a parking decal that can be transferred from one vehicle windshield to another. (The motorcycle decal goes on the bumper.)

The quarterly decal must be purchased online each quarter, and a separate decal is necessary for summer. You are eligible for a refund only if you return the unused decal to the campus police substation, on the lower level of the Campus Center, by the second Friday of the quarter (first Friday of summer session), or if all your classes are cancelled by the college.

  • This fee is nonrefundable.

BOG Fee Waiver / California College Promise

  • Recipients of the California College Promise Fee Waiver, previously known as the BOG Fee Waiver, may purchase a parking decal for $13.15 per quarter.

Parking decal must be purchased online

Parking decals must be purchased online through MyPortal: Open the Apps page and click on the "Student Registration" tile in the Students section, then click on "Order De Anza Parking Permit."

Orders are processed and decals will be mailed by the next business day. Upon completion of the online purchase, you will receive a purchase confirmation via email or text message. You will also be provided with a printable receipt and an interim permit, good for 15 days from the date of purchase, that you can print out. The interim permit is for temporary display until your decal arrives in the mail. All decals are mailed to the delivery address specified on the order.

  • You will be required to pay for a new parking decal if yours is stolen, lost or damaged, or if you entered an incorrect or incomplete delivery address when ordering.

Dual Enrollment High School Student Fees

High school students who enroll in more than 11 units in fall, winter or spring – or more than six units in summer – at De Anza College, Foothill College, or the two colleges combined, will be charged all fees. See our Dual Enrollment webpage for more information.

Foreign Citizen Fees

Foreign citizens are charged $239 per unit, in addition to the regular enrollment fee and basic fees. (This fee will increase to $245 per unit, beginning with the 2024 summer session.) The foreign citizen category includes foreign citizens with non-qualifying visas (such as C, D, F, H2, J, M, O2, P, Q, TC or TD visas). For F-1 visa holders, health insurance is required and its fee is added when registered.

Special Immigrant Visa Holders and Refugees

California Education Code section 68075.6 grants an immediate nonresident tuition fee exemption to Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders and refugee students who settled in California upon entering the United States. This exemption is granted for one year from the date the student settled in California upon entering the United States.

This exemption applies to the following:

  • Iraqi citizens or nationals (and their spouses and children) who were employed by or on behalf of the U.S. government in Iraq (Pub.L. No. 110-181, § 1244)
  • Afghan and Iraqi translators (and their spouses and children) who worked directly with the U.S. armed forces (Pub.L. No. 109-163, § 1059)
  • Afghanistan nationals who were employed by or on behalf of the U.S. government or in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan (Pub.L. No. 111-8, § 602)
  • Refugee students admitted to the United States under Section 1157 of Title 8 of the United States Code

NEW: In-State Fees for ESL Credit Classes

Newly arrived immigrants, refugees and individuals who have been granted asylum in the United States – or applied for these immigration statuses – can take ESL credit courses for the lower fees charged to California residents, instead of the higher tuition paid by nonresidents. State law (Ed. Code Section 76140) provides this exception only for individuals who settled in California after entering the United States and have lived in California for less than a year.

Nonresident Fees

(This includes U.S citizens who are not California residents, as well as certain qualifying visa holders.)

Nonresidents are charged $239 per unit, in addition to the regular enrollment fee and basic fees. (This fee will increase to $245 per unit, beginning with the 2024 summer session.) The nonresident category includes U.S. citizens who are not legal California residents. This category also includes students holding qualifying visas (such as A, E, G, I, K, L, H1, H4 or permanent resident visas) who have been in the country and held an eligible visa for one year and one day before the term begins, but have NOT lived in the state of California for one year and one day before the term begins.

Fee Waiver for Six or Fewer Units

Students can apply to have nonresident tuition waived if they are taking no more than six units at De Anza and Foothill College, combined. This waiver covers only the units taken at De Anza. It is not available for students attending on an F-1 visa, and you must have a current California address to qualify. To apply for this waiver, you must complete the Adobe Sign "Six-Unit Nonresident Fee Waiver" form.

Complete the Nonresident Fee Waiver Form

Nonresident waiver requests usually take 10 business days to process. For any questions, please send an email to daresidency@deanza.edu
