POSTPONED TO MARCH 21: Community Healing Altar
3/14/2023
12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
DeHart Library
This event has been rescheduled due to weather and will be combined with the Healing Circle event on March 21. // Members of the campus community are invited to bring items for a collective healing altar in remembrance of those who were lost to violence or mass shootings this year – including Tyre Nichols and those killed in Monterey Park, Half Moon Bay and Oakland, California, as well as those who died in the Uvalde school shooting in 2022 and the Atlanta spa shooting in 2021.
Participants may bring photos, news clippings, nonperishable foods or wrapped candies, flowers or other items signifying victims of violence that you don't mind sharing in a public display. Organizers say they hope to unify around healing the trauma inflicted on Black, Latinx and Asian communities in America.
The altar will remain on display through winter quarter, in the area across from the main circulation desk inside the Library.
