April 28, 2025
Review/Approval of January 27, 2025, Meeting Notes
The group reviewed and approved the meeting notes from January 27, 2025.
Campus Center First Floor Refresh Update
Lockwood reviewed the project charter. The project manager has collected quotes, and the bidding process is expected to begin over the summer.
The project includes a cosmetic refresh involving:
- Painting of walls, door jambs, benches, and the council chambers
- Removal and replacement of the existing chair rail and wallpaper
- Replacement of the rubber floor base
- Removal of epoxy paint from concrete surfaces
- Replacement of linoleum flooring outside the men’s and women’s restrooms
- Updated signage throughout the area
Additional Notes:
- A transaction window will be submitted as a separate project to the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and added later.
- Brighter lighting will be included as part of the Measure G lighting project.
- Walls will be painted in lighter tones; benches and doors will follow a De Anza brown color scheme.
Signage updates are still in development, in coordination with the Student Services Division Office.
Campus Center Second Floor Refresh Update
DaSilva and Lockwood provided an overview of the possible upgrades which would be a cosmetic refresh designed to brighten up the space. This project is still undergoing approvals.
Highlights:
- Educational Technology Services (ETS) will enhance various areas by adding Zoom capabilities, creating flexible workspaces, and upgrading electronics connected to monitors.
- The project charter is under review. Upon approval, updates will include:
- New roller shades for Conference Rooms A and B and the Fireside Room
- Evaluation and possible replacement of interior and exterior doors to ensure compatibility with the lock systems
- Removal of whiteboards and cabinets in select rooms
- Repairs or upgrades to data jacks
- In the dining room: evaluation of skylights, painting of dark ceiling beams, and replacement of acoustic panels
Resource Hub Project Update (formerly the Food Pantry)
The Project Manager, FF&E Coordinator, and Dean of Enrollment Services met with the architect. A purchase order has been issued, and the project will proceed in phases:
Phase 1:
- Assessment of the building’s mechanical and electrical systems
- Evaluation of electrical load capacity, HVAC requirements, and structural load for
refrigerators and freezers.
Phase 2:
- Design and development
- Planned additions include a dishwasher and a washer/dryer
- Goal: relocate Resource Hub staff as soon as possible
Measure G Update
Roseanne Sciacchitano (Capital Construction Program Director) shared a presentation and status update on Measure G projects.
Completed Projects:
- E3 DMT Labs
- Telecom Utility Relocation (network upgrade)
- L1 Flat Roof Upgrade
Projects in Progress:- E3/S4/S5 Roof Upgrades: Contract awarded. Work includes roofing replacement and siding repairs/painting.
Coordination with campus operations will minimize instructional disruption.
- All-Gender Restrooms (S6, S2, L5):
- Renovations will convert existing facilities into all-gender restrooms.
- DSA approval received. Construction bidding expected around August 2025, with work beginning shortly thereafter.
- All three restrooms will follow the same construction timeline and would take approximately
8-10 months for completion.
- Flint Center Demolition:
- Includes utility rerouting and capping
- Site clearing and foundation removal currently underway
- Project expected to be completed by end of summer 2025
- Beach Volleyball Facility:
- Conversion of former softball field into six NCAA beach volleyball courts
- Includes AV system, showers, signage, lighting, and multi-sport storage
- Construction pace to slow in the coming month; multi-sport storage building scheduled for summer installation
- Completion expected by end of summer 2025
- Creative Arts Complex:
- In pre-design phase, pending completion of Flint Center demolition
- A8 Physical Plant building adjacent to Flint Center is being renovated into a central
plant to support the Creative Arts complex and campus infrastructure
Other Ongoing/Upcoming Projects:
- Campus-Wide Wi-Fi Upgrade (ETS project)
- Fire Alarm System Upgrades (design phase)
- Outdoor Events Arena Scoreboard Replacement (design phase)
- PE Complex Renovation (pending state funding)
- Campus Lighting Upgrades
- Roofing Upgrade – next phase: S3
- EV Charger Installation – design to begin in summer
Dining Services Update
Patrick shared that Pho will be served again on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. This offering typically draws 80–100 people. One more serving is planned before summer.
