Fall 2022 Update–District Opening Day and Masking Requirements
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you are finding time this summer to rest and recharge. The last two years of worldwide upheaval have taken a toll on us all, and I look toward our return to campus in the fall to recover a sense of normalcy, renew our connections, and refocus squarely on our common mission – student success.
To that end, I am excited to announce that Compton Community College District President/CEO Keith Curry will join us on September 21 to kick off District Opening Day, “Renewal and Change at Foothill-De Anza.” Dr. Curry has developed a nationwide following through his work with #EquityAvengers, and I know he will provide inspiration to all of us in tackling challenges and opportunities in the year ahead. Thanks to our many talented colleagues, we also have a full schedule of meaningful and thought-provoking workshops planned for the day. The full schedule of activities will be available on the district website later this week.
Indoor Masking
As promised in my districtwide message earlier this summer, I want to provide an update on masking requirements for the fall quarter. After a robust discussion at this afternoon’s Consultation Task Force meeting, we reached consensus to continue to require face coverings in all indoor classes and public-facing offices and to recommend masks in all other areas. I once again owe a debt of gratitude to members of the task force for their thoughtfulness in sharing the perspectives of students and employees as we continue to navigate these uncertain times.
Enjoy the rest of the summer, and thanks to all of you for your good work. Foothill-De Anza remains an excellent district because of your commitment and dedication. I can’t wait to see you again in person on September 21!
Warmly,
Judy
