President's Award for Kevin Valencia
Dear Student,
We'd like you to meet Kevin Valencia, another President's Award recipient for 2024. Kevin and other major award recipients will be honored at the collegewide graduation ceremony this Saturday, June 29. We're profiling these outstanding students all this week.
Kevin Valencia
Attending a community college wasn’t in Kevin Valencia's original plans, but coming to De Anza turned out to be the right decision.
Kevin is graduating with three associate degrees – in Computer Science, Liberal Arts and Mathematics – and transferring to study computer science at UCLA. He wants to pursue a career in which he can apply computer science to solving environmental problems.
Although he felt "kind of lost in the beginning," Kevin found a welcoming community of students, instructors and mentors at De Anza.

Graduation Tips
De Anza's 57th annual commencement ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. in the Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara. Doors will open at 1 p.m.
- Free parking is available in the garage behind the convention center. Grads and their guests should plan to arrive early – the doors will open at 1 p.m. – to allow time to park and get ready.
- After the ceremony, you'll be able to take photos with fun props – including the college mascot, Roary the Mountain Lion.
