Programs Designed Just for YOU!
Welcome to De Anza!
Dear Student,
We’re glad you’re joining us at De Anza this fall. In addition to great classes, we have many amazing programs designed to help you to connect with fellow students and resources that will make your college journey successful – and fun!
Here are just a few examples:
UndocuWelcome and HEFAS
We’re holding a special orientation for undocumented students and their families this Wednesday, Aug. 28. UndocuWelcome is designed to provide tips and tools for making the most of your college experience at De Anza. We'll cover academic planning, financial aid and more. Visit deanza.edu/vida/undocuwelcome to learn more and sign up for this event.
Even if you aren't able to attend this event, you can still visit the HEFAS office all year long for peer support and resources.
Umoja Community
Umoja students build knowledge and critical thinking skills while exploring historic and cultural contributions from across the African Diaspora. The program offers supportive services to promote university transfer and academic achievement. Learn more at deanza.edu/umoja.
Pride Community
The Pride Learning Community offers support and inclusion for LGBTQ+ students across the gender and sexuality spectrums. Take classes that explore LGBTQ+ topics while building community with like-minded students, faculty and community partners. Learn more at deanza.edu/pride.
Rising Scholars
The Rising Scholars program was created to support students who were previously incarcerated or had other experiences with the criminal justice system, or who have been affected by a family member’s incarceration.
This program offers peer support, a dedicated counselor, tutoring, internship opportunities and more resources. Learn more at deanza.edu/rising-scholars.
More Ways to Connect
You’ll find additional Learning Communities listed at deanza.edu/learning-communities – including several more for students who want to explore their ethnic heritage or culture, plus programs for first-generation college students, students interested in the Humanities or wanting extra support in English or Math, honors students, athletes – and more!
Discover Your Village!
Even if you don't join a Learning Community, everyone is encouraged to join one of six Villages at De Anza. It's part of the whole college experience!
- Villages are supportive networks of students, faculty and staff members, based on related groups of academic majors and subjects.
- Your Village is a place to meet people with common interests and find information, activities and services that are relevant to your goals.
- Learn more at deanza.edu/villages.
