Honors and Achievements
IMPACT AAPI Brief
De Anza’s IMPACT AAPI Learning Community is featured in a new report from the Campaign for College Opportunity, written by Rowena Tomaneng, incoming deputy chancellor of California Community Colleges and former associate vice president of Instruction at De Anza.
The brief highlights effective strategies for ensuring that Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students can succeed in college without sacrificing their own cultural assets.
De Anza Awarded NASH Grant
The National Association of Higher Education Systems (NASH) previously awarded a NASH Catalyst Fund grant to De Anza's HEFAS program, and has now expanded this grant to also include the Pride Center. These programs are recognized for their innovation and adherence to the NASH value of “removing cost as a barrier to college access.” The grant will fund paid student fellowships at HEFAS and the Pride Center that were created to employ students who are otherwise ineligible for campus student positions.
ICYMI
De Anza Alumni Maintain Michelin Star
Chefs Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski were awarded a Michelin star again for each of their co-owned restaurants, State Bird Provisions and The Progress.
As noted in the Mercury News, the couple met at De Anza before working in kitchens in the Midwest and later returning to the Bay Area to open the restaurants.
