Extra Support from Guardian Scholars+NextUP
Dear Student,
As a student who identifies as a current or former foster youth, you may be eligible for extra support and resources – including academic, career and personal counseling from De Anza's Guardian Scholars/NextUP counselors.
In addition to our counselors, the Guardian Scholars/NextUP program offers these services to eligible students who are current or former foster youth:
- Priority registration
- Assistance with completing the FAFSA and other applications for financial aid, including the Chafee Grant and scholarships
- Gas cards or other transportation assistance
- Meal vouchers
- Mental health services on campus
- Specialized workshops and referrals for other resources, on and off campus
Depending on your current age and your age when you were in foster care, you may be eligible for additional financial grants or textbook vouchers. You may also qualify for additional services if you meet the basic eligibility criteria for the EOPS program.
Sound pretty good? You can learn more about the program – including how to apply – by visiting deanza.edu/eops/foster-youth. We hope to see you soon!
Best wishes,
De Anza College
