Important–Your Academic Status at De Anza
Progress Probation and Registration Hold
Dear Student,
We noticed your cumulative completion rate is below 51% for all courses you've taken at De Anza through the 2024 spring quarter. This is because half or more of your course grades have been W (Withdrawn), I (Incomplete) or NP (No Pass). As a result, you are beginning a progress probation process and there will be a registration hold on your student account, until you complete the steps listed below.
- You are not alone: Many students have difficulty maintaining their academic standing each quarter, due to personal, financial, health or family issues that affect their studies.
- We have confidence in you! We believe you can raise your course completion rate and regain good academic standing. De Anza's Academic Awareness Program has counselors and student success specialists who can connect you with resources and support!
Here’s what you need to do: The required steps listed below are designed to help you improve your course completion rate and get back on track with your academic goals.
- First: You must meet with an academic counselor.
-
- If you are part of program or Learning Community that has its own counselors, you should speak with the counselor for your program. This includes programs such as Disability Support Services, Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS), International Student Programs (ISP), First Year Experience (FYE), Puente, Umoja or Veteran Services. You can see the complete list at deanza.edu/our-counselors.
- If you’re not in a program that has its own counselors, you should contact the Academic Awareness team to schedule an appointment with an Academic Awareness counselor.
-
- Second: Complete the Academic Awareness student survey to help us identify ways to assist you.
You must complete both of these steps to have the registration hold removed. You won’t be able to register for classes, order transcripts or receive any certificates or degrees while the hold is in effect. In addition, students on progress probation for more than one quarter may lose their priority registration status and could lose eligibility for certain types of financial aid or veteran’s benefits. (The Financial Aid and Veteran Services offices can provide more information about eligibility.)
We care about you: If you have any questions about the process, please don't hesitate to contact the Academic Awareness team.
Best wishes,
De Anza College
