About the Program
Welcome! The Comparative Ethnic Studies program offers courses aimed at exploring the arts, histories, politics and social issues of historically underrepresented groups, including African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinx/Chicanx and Native American and indigenous populations in the United States.
Some of these explorations include looking at contributions of these populations in the arts, women of color in the U.S., and attitudes around masculinity in the U.S.
The courses offered in this department include:
- CETH 8: Women of Color in the U.S.
- CETH 10: Introduction to Ethnic Studies (meets CSU GE Area F – Ethnic Studies)
- CETH 11: Race & Ethnicity: Belonging and Exclusion in the U.S.
- CETH 13: History of Art (Multicultural Arts in the U.S.)
- CETH 19: Masculinities in U.S. Culture and Society
Some courses may not be offered every quarter. Contact Debbie Lee, dean of Intercultural and International Studies, by emailing leedebbie@deanza.edu to find out when a course will be offered.
