Attendance: Lia, Katia, Chrissy, Ryan, Ethan, Joshua, and Ella were present.
Minutes from May 21, 2025, were approved (moved by Katia, seconded by Lia).
Business Item #2: Program Liaison Application Process
- Applications will be sent to Vida, Hefa, and Umoja programs starting today
- Two-week application window to align with email cycles
- Plan to review applications on the 11th
- Microsoft form will be created based on previously reviewed application
- FAQ sheet will be developed to answer questions extracted from the amendment
Business Item #3: Cultural Day Planning
- Two food trucks confirmed: Kona Ice and El Bombero
- Two vendors secured
- DJ has been arranged
- Performers include Puso, KGIS club, Persian, and the four elements of hip-hop
- No activities planned due to time constraints
- ICC will assist with volunteer coordination
- Suggestion to potentially add henna activities
Business Item #4: Diversity in Politics Event
- Scheduled for June 6th from 1:30-3:30 in Conference Room A&B
- Three confirmed panelists:
- Mayor Campbell (also Chair of VTA)
- Assembly member Ash Kara (first Indian American in California legislature)
- Barresa School Board member Chariet Hawk (first openly bisexual school board member)
Public Comment:
- Scholarships
- Event aims to showcase diverse perspectives in politics
- Joshua, Ryan and others will review DASG scholarship applications
- SRE code will be discussed during Senate today (information item) with action planned for next week
- Student Leadership Gala scheduled for June 4th (replacing regular Senate meeting)
