Approval of Notes October 15, 2019

    The notes were approved.

Status of Campus Facilities – Grounds and Custodial

DaSilva, Operations Manager for the De Anza Campus presented and reviewed the current staffing in the Grounds and Custodial Department, the APPA cleaning standard guidelines for both areas and the current level of standards being met.

De Anza has 21 custodians for day/swing and night shift and 968,000 square feet of cleaning space. There are 6 grounds people to cover 81.8 acres of landscape, athletic fields, parking lots and roadways.

DaSilva shared how the levels of standards are not currently being met due to reduced staffing. DaSilva illustrated how the levels of standards could be increased if the department was able to increase staffing in the future.

    Outdoor Furniture

Lockwood, FF&E Coordinator presented information and documentation on the current state of the existing outdoor benches on the campus. The benches on campus are the original benches, dating back to the opening of the college. The benches will be replaced in phases. The finish will match the existing steel outdoor furniture on the campus. The new benches have interchangeable parts for ease of replacement and wide slats to reduce the debris and water collection during the rainy season. In addition, all 16 commemorative benches will also be replaced with a new bench and new plaque. Presented to the group were pictures of examples of the replacement benches, features and styles of each.
