    Review/Approve notes from January 31, 2023, meeting

The notes were approved with the requested changes.

    Beach Volleyball Gate Entry

The De Anza softball facility was converted to a beach volleyball facility as part of the Measure G Bond program.  This change was supported by revisions in instruction previously, and at this time the program is using beach volleyball facilities offsite. Two elevations of the new entrance gate drawings were shared with the committee. The entrance will be facing the parking lot D at the McClellan Road entrance to the campus. The first elevation option (A) was large (wider) with a flattened arch, which proved to be more expensive, and out of budget for the project. Upon review with the PE Division and President Holmes, the recommendation was to make the arch like our campus logo with less width. The second elevation option (B) is less wide but with a deeper arch, aligning with the aesthetic of our campus logo, and within the project’s budget. Option B was approved and will be presented to College Council on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Measure G Mega Project Task Force

At the April 12, 2022, Campus Facilities meeting, two task forces were created. One for the New Services for Students Building (project #202, which includes A-Quad relocation) and one for the De Anza Event Center and Utility Relocation (project #509, which includes the Flint Center demolition and utility relocations). At the initial request for participants, faculty was working to contract. At the March 23, 2023, College Council meeting a new task force was created and a list of members is expected at College Council on April 20, 2023.

    Measure G, Project #213, Renovate Restrooms in S2, S6 & L5

Project #213 sub-project of project #212, Modernize Building Interiors and Exteriors (from the bond project master list). A new task force will be created to review architectural drawings for the layout options of the existing restrooms and discuss revisions to those spaces, as well as assist in determining locations for all gender (gender neutral) restroom facilities.  Included in the discussions will be accessibility and budget considerations for which restrooms to upgrade.

A list of interested faculty, administrators and classified staff who have already expressed an interest in restroom designs for this project was shared. A call was made for other interested students, faculty, and staff to participate. The task force will meet in the next 2-3 weeks to review the restroom design concepts before the end of the Spring quarter with an estimate of 2-3 meetings.  Final recommendations will go to College Council in June. Mahato will send out emails to the different areas asking for volunteers.
