    Review/Approve notes from October 18, 2023, meeting.

    The group reviewed and approved the notes.


    Classroom Flooring Options

    The campus has identified ten classrooms for updates of flooring, paint, and multimedia. The committee is asked to give input and vote on flooring options. Pictures were shared of 3 different marmoleum flooring products, suitable for use in the classrooms. Samples can be seen in person with the FF&E Coordinators office. Samples included: Bleached Gold; a grey/tan and beige with a linear pattern, Desert Sand; a cream and tan color with a linear pattern and a Fresco line with a taupe chocolate color with a traditional pattern. Desert Sand was chosen due to practicality and group vote.

    The first classrooms to be updated will be in E3, S1, S4 and S7. There are ten classrooms selected.  The rooms chosen are prioritized based on need using scheduled maintenance funding.


    Letter Of Interest between the County of Santa Clara and Foothill-De Anza Community College District – BOT item #2 – November 7, 2022

    Information was shared about a Letter of Interest that went to the Board from the County of Santa Clara. A preliminary conversation to explore the option of the County building a medical facility on the campus will result from the Letter of Interest. Information will be brought forward through the Board, and it was encouraged for everyone to follow the progress on the Board of Trustees webpage. There were questions from members about how the item came to the Board.  What is the benefit to the college and the district if a location has been proposed and what the impact to the Student Health Service office would be. It is very early in the process (gathering information about the physical site) and the benefit to the college is unknown but will need to discussed should the county and district determine the project viable to move beyond the initial investigative process. A proposed location is parking Lot B. The impact to Student Health Services is also unknown.


    Measure G Bond Projects Update

    A list of Bond projects and information was shared. Everyone was encouraged to look at the Measure G webpage for this information and for updates, https://www.deanza.edu/measure-g/ . The President will meet with Creative Arts division about the division relocation.

    Projects underway include:

    Project 201 - Upgrade Fire Alarm/Suppression Systems

    Project 202 - New Services for Students Building (includes A-Quad relocation)

    Project 204 – Converting Existing Facility to Beach Volleyball

    Project 212 – Modernize Building Interiors and Exteriors

    • Project 213 came out of Project 212 as a stand-alone project to renovate the campus restrooms – S2, S6 and L5.

    Project 509 – De Anza Event Center (includes utility relocation and demolition of the Flint Center)


    HEERF Project Update

    Drinking Fountains/Bottle Fillers: Construction was scheduled to begin in January, but the bid process has been extended. 


    Information Sharing/Quick News

    College Operations shared there are 2 locations on campus identified for planned tree removal. E3 and between PE1 and PE2. The trees near E3 have roots that have grown underneath the slab of the buildings and were found in the flooring; in addition, the interior walls show water infiltration up to about 30” due to tree berm. The trees between PE 1 and PE 2 have grown up the side of the building and under the footing.  Damage to our built facilities includes exterior wall finish on the wall and broken roof tiles, with the potential of roof weatherproofing underlayment damage. An arborist has been engaged and will work with professionals to safely remove the trees. A question was asked about the PE trees and if they are located inside the PE Quad. The trees are inside the quad.

    A question was asked about the existing Flint Center and when it will be removed. College Operations understands that the district has a target date of Spring 2024 to start the process of demolition with the hard (loud and vibration) construction starting in Summer 2024.
