Recommendation approved by College Council.
RAPP (Resource Allocation and Program Planning)- Personnel Hiring Recommendation
Newell noted that after the previous recommendation was not approved, it went back for further consideration. There were issues noted with the process and how to evaluate the individual positions. Woodbury presented the 17 positions that RAPP unanimously recommended to College Council for approval. Grey highlighted that Dining Services positions were not on this list. The Director and Mahato submitted requests for 7 dining services and other positions; input was received but not added to the list.
Members discussed the process of positions not recommended, noting that those will be resubmitted and will go through the ranking process again. There was further conversation on criteria and processes to address clearing any questions or opportunities to justify the requests. RAPP tri-chair noted that positions highly ranked with no questions would move to the list, and positions that members had questions on were removed from the list to discuss. RAPP members highlighted that the 17 positions recommended did not have further questions. There was discussion about the two positions from the previous recommended list being moved out of the recommended list.
Members noted concerns about the process, time allowed to discuss questions, and transparency. Holmes noted that College Council members asked that RAPP go back and look at the process and positions. Holmes highlighted the importance of respecting the work of the committee members.
There were two separate votes for the following:
- 17 positions recommended - list attached. 12 Yes, 1 Abstention
- 2 additional positions (position number 23 & 26)- 8 Yes, 2 no, 3 Abstentions
19 positions were approved by College Council members. Holmes thanked all for the extra time given to address these items.
Holmes reminded attendees of end-of-year activities and encouraged all to attend the Graduation Ceremony on July 1, 2023.
