    SSPBT Priorities - Enrollment Services Presentation

    At the last SSPBT meeting, the committee was presented with data regarding the SSPBT priorities from Institutional Research. The data showed where improvements have been made but also where challenges still remain. Enrollment Services presented on what they have been doing that addresses some of these challenges to serve our students equitably.

    Enrollment Services includes:
    1. Admissions & Records, Cashier’s Office
    2. Assessment Center
    3. Evaluations Unit
    4. International Student Programs (ISP)
    5. Outreach
    6. Veterans Resource Center (VRC)


    • Admissions & Records
      • Over 50 forms in Adobe Sign for students, faculty, and staff
      • Areas of Growth:
        • Adult dual enrollment
        • High school dual enrollment
        • Non-credit
        • Credit for prior learning (CPL)
      • Working on non-credit academic coursework including transcript and certification awards and credit for prior learning.

    • Assessment Center
      • AB 705 changes are ongoing - refining processes
      • All assessments moved to an online format
      • Reinvented science exams for an online offering

    • Evaluations Unit
      • Accepting graduation/certification applications online
      • Established IGETC/GE Breadth certificates submission fully online
      • Implemented digital diplomas

    • International Student Program
      • Established an ISP emergency funds process
      • Established a process for wrap-around support and services for students in crisis
      • Established hybrid Counseling 5 classes

    • Outreach
      • Updated Online Canvas orientation to include step-by-step videos, have reached out to students that had previously been enrolled in the fall and stopped in the winter quarter, conducted recruitment workshops in-person and virtually, conducted workshops and orientations at the high schools.
      • Men of Color Community (MC2)
        • 896 men of color have signed up through the online enrollment form, 23 students during the winter 2022 quarter.
        • MC2 partnership with Santa Clara County Probation department
      • De Anza College Promise
        • They currently have 5,000 Promise students
      • Basic Needs/Food Pantry
        • 1,354 total visits (fall 2021 and winter 2022)
        • 492 unduplicated students served
      • Veterans Resource Center (VRC)
        • The VRC Serves about 330 Student Veterans and they partner with Goodwill, Santa Clara County VSO, Cupertino Rotary Club, and Cupertino Veterans Memorial.
        • They have probation workshops for Veterans, scholarship/financial aid support, and partner with FHDA Foundation to increase awareness of scholarships.
        • They utilize HEERF funds to pay off GI Bill debts, finance application fees to CSU’s, and have a computer loan program.


    Nguyen had a question about the excused withdrawal (EW) and what the process was for students. Galoyan replied that the Chancellor’s office is in the process of finalizing new policy regarding EW in Title 5. A workgroup has been established to work on the permanent process that will likely start in the fall 2022 quarter. The current process can be found online using the Petition for Exception form.

    Mieso emphasized that Enrollment Day will be on-campus this year, Saturday April 30th, and looks forward to everyone’s participation after two years of being virtual. Information about Enrollment Day can be found on their webpage.

    Member and Program Updates
    • Bostick reported that ACE has been speaking on the reclassification study and how that rolled out and who that will be affecting in the future.

    • Balducci said they will have counselors working over the spring break. Online drop-ins and appointments will be available by counselors remotely.

    • LeBleu-Burns said that EOPS is planning their graduation and end of year celebration for their students.
      • She also wanted to remind everyone that Health Services has PCR testing available every Wednesday from 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm by appointment.

    • Glapion reported on the Academic Senate meeting: Confirmations for service on hiring committee(s); online education update and discussion in IPBT, and the ASCCC Spring Plenary resolutions packet was available as well.

    • Yi-Baker reported that the DASG elections are still going on and the last day for students to vote is this Friday.

    • Nguyen reported FA negotiations are still ongoing along with other issues of discussion. He commented that he has enjoyed his time here since he has been filling in for Tim Shively this quarter. He wanted to thank everyone for being so welcoming.

    • Brown said they are working on initiatives for Guided Pathways to help improve student experiences. They are also continuing to work on the Villages to collaborate and coordinate all pieces of the campus resources. They have finalized some physical places on campus as well.

    • Kobata said athletics is going well and they are busy. He thanked Rosafel in Health Services for providing the PCR testing, making the process quick and easy for the students.

    • Mandy reported Financial Aid will be open over the spring break as well for students and they have had a steady stream of students coming in over the quarter.
