SSPBT Priorities - Student Development Presentation
Student Development includes:
- EOPS/CARE
- Occupational Training Institute (OTI)
- Office of College Life
- Health Services
- Psychological Services
Student Judicial Affairs was not included in this list due to functionality of this area and not being closely related to the areas of focus of the CORE Priorities.- EOPS/CARE
- EOPS provides resources for basic needs to their students that includes electronic gift cards so students can buy groceries, gas cards, book vouchers and computers.
- They anticipate about 140 students will receive their AA/AS degrees and 120 students
will transfer to 4-year universities at the end of this academic year.
- Occupational Training Institute (OTI)
- The CompTechS Program provided computers to low-income students and also trained and placed students in internships with Silicon Valley high-tech companies.
- CalWORKs, in collaboration with Santa Clara County, purchased computers, various wi-fi
services and provided additional funding for basic needs.
- Office of College Life (OCL)
- In collaboration with ETS, they created a digital ID card that is accessible to students through their MyPortal account.
- They were also able to provide digital bus passes through the Ezfare app during the
pandemic in collaboration with ETS and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority
(VTA).
- This service was provided through the pandemic only and the card is now picked
up at the OCL office.

- Student Health Services
- Health Services integrated and implemented the vaccination records module in the PyraMed
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for monitoring COVID vaccinations and exemption
testing requirements for De Anza, Foothill and Central Services.

- Psychological Services
- Conducted the Healthy Minds national study to gain insight into the mental health needs of De Anza Students.
- They currently are implementing TimelyMD to provide free 27/7 crisis counseling and
scheduled counseling sessions with a licensed mental health professional.
Mieso thanked LeBleu-Burns for the presentation and for connecting how items such as the Flea Market contribute to student success and the core priorities. The Flea Market generates revenue that contributes to the DASG budget, which is part of the allocation every year to provide financial support to various programs and services on campus that support student retention and success.
- Yi-Baker also wanted to add that they are updating the rental bike program and converting 20 bikes to e-bikes. Starting this fall they could have these e-bikes ready for students to use to and from campus.

Member and Program Updates
- Glapion reported on Academic Senate: they reviewed the role and membership along with
the constitution and bylaws, a presentation and vote on affinity group representation
and voting rights also took place, and they discussed the ask from College Council
regarding how to improve recruitment and participation in shared governance.
- Yi-Baker reported that ICC and DASG are wrapping up in a few weeks and a Student Leadership
Recognition Gala is coming up on June 1st in-person.
- Bostick reported on ACE and they are currently reviewing the survey results regarding
working from home from their constituents and have been speaking about the tentative
COLA agreement with the membership to make sure everyone is on board with the different
facets of it.
- Kobata reported that the badminton team took home state champions and track and field
will be competing in the state track and field finals as well starting Friday and
finishing up on Saturday. Athletics sent 25 men and women to the state championships
this year.
- Chacko reported for Classified Senate and Classified Employee Week and he wanted to
thank all the Classified staff for all of the work that they do for the college. At
this time of the year it is also time for elections to take place so an email will
go out this week for nominations for next year’s Classified Senate members.
- Balducci reported that they will be holding a Transfer Center celebration on June
9th this year online and invites will be going out soon. The DSPS celebration will
also be online this year, based on the results of a survey sent to DSPS students.
- LeBleu-Burns said that they will be doing an in-person celebration for their EOPS
students this year on June 10th in the Sunken Garden.
- Galoyan reported on Enrollment Services and they have finalized the new policies for
Excused Withdrawals (EW) and Pass/No Pass(P/NP) that will go into effect the end of
the spring quarter. These new policies will be communicated to students and faculty
over the summer term.
- The COVID Exceptions will also be finalized for three years: 2019-20, 2020-21, and
2021-22. These exceptions can be applied even if the student did not request them.
In the summer term, they are returning to the normal rules and regulations that were
waived during the pandemic.

- Mandy reported on Financial Aid and they are still awarding students their aid for
the 2022-23 year. She also updated on their new initiative and they have paid off
the balances of about 26 students at this time.
