Annual Governance Reflection Survey

The Annual Governance Reflection Survey questions were reviewed and answers drafted for submission. The answers will be submitted to Mallory Newell from the College Planning Committee by June 25, 2020.

During the year the Shared Governance Committee was tasked with reviewing the shared governance process and providing recommendations to improve the process and the functionality. Shively commented that whether we continue with the current shared governance model or the new suggested model, it should be recognized that there were real functional problems with the process this year.

Governance Handbook Review/Updates

Shively suggested folding the union into the institutional group that each party belongs to and to strive to have the same numbers in each group as well. Another suggestion was to incorporate affinity groups as part of the current membership. SSPBT often has many affinity groups already incorporated into the membership but not all are represented. These groups can also be incorporated into each institutional group as well. The goal for next year will be to work on the suggestions provided.

Member and Program Updates

• Shively reported that FA has had the salary settlement ratified and the Board approved this Monday. Hopefully by fall this will be incorporated into the faculty paychecks.
  
  
• Glapion reported on Academic Senate: they had a recognition of retires and a call for faculty to serve on several committees, a presentation by the Heritage Month Workgroup, a Shared Governance Reform discussion, and completed the Annual Governance Reflection Survey.
  
  

• Balducci reported that the Transfer celebration was successful and well attended. The Transfer Fair for the fall is already being planned for in person this year and they are finishing up the spring quarter and prepping for the summer session.
  
  

• Galoyan reported on Enrollment Services and they have started processing the non-credit transcripts and certificates. She also invited everyone to visit the Veteran graduation webpage that includes stories from the graduates themselves.
  
  

• Mandy reported on Financial Aid and they are currently wrapping up scholarships that have been awarded to students. They also are continuing to reach out to students regarding their outstanding balances.
  
  

Mieso thanked everyone for participating and sharing in the SSPBT governance committee this year.
