Disruptive Behavior
A student who disrupts class may be asked to leave. De Anza College enforces all procedures set forth in the Student Code of Conduct. For other policies regarding student rights and responsibilities, see the College policies. Appropriate remedial and/or disciplinary steps will be taken when violations occur.
Exercise Assistants
There are a limited number of trained student assistants working in the APE classroom. It is the instructor’s decision to assign exercise assistants to work with enrolled students and the duration.
Personal Attendant
De Anza College and the APE program does not provide students with a personal care attendant. Students must take responsibility for any necessary dressing and undressing, taking of medications, and getting to and using the bathroom. Such arrangements must be made by the student if they require that level of assistance.
The APE Exercise Assistants' role is only to help APE students with their exercise programs in the classroom.
Clothing
Clothing
In class, wear loose comfortable clothing. Bring a small towel to wipe down equipment
after use if you sweat excessively.
Shoes
Closed toe shoes are required. This is especially important for students with balance
issues and/or diabetes. Sandals are not permitted.
Exercise Tips
Prior to class, do not eat a heavy meal before your exercise class. A light snack an hour or so prior to the exercise class is recommended. Be sure to
take your daily medications as you normally would.
It is important to warm up before getting into the heavier portion of your exercise routine, and the cool down should be gradual.
Be on time to class and don't leave early. Don't cheat yourself on your exercise time!
