Approval of minutes
The minutes from the October 24, 2022 meeting were approved without changes.
VRC project update
First wall complete. Will be moving to right side wall next, then put sealant on both.
Met with Rotary. Phase 2 will involve 6 of the 18 pillars, each representing a branch of the military. Phase 3 will involve the entire opposite wall. Once the estimated $30,000 is raised a faculty lead and a class will need to be identified for the work. The committee will become involved after money is raised.
Year of the Rabbit project update
The donation from the college was processed. The Rotary club solicited artists for the entire project. Smith forwarded the link to clubs and faculty who might become involved.
Other updates
A quad move – May commence as soon as Summer 2023. The A5 mural file is big enough for reproduction, so the artwork can be saved in its present digital form. However, funding is needed to move the sculptures outside A4 and A7.
Cleaning art - Mahato is looking for vendors to clean the existing outdoor art on campus.
DASG application – Awaiting DASG response to funding allocation.
Second student representative – No new information. Daniel Smith will follow up with Photo faculty and Hughes (Art Guild) to recruit the second student member of the committee.
Refreshing student art on campus
Smith and Argabrite updated ceramics pieces in 4 display cases in the Campus Center East hallway. The labels will be redone as well.
A work order is needed to put a lock on the painting display case.
Help is needed to fund the framing of the 7 hair pieces. It is hoped that the President’s office will assist.
A walk-through of the Campus Center will be scheduled in the near future. Daniel Smith, Diana Argabrite, Julie Hughes and Kenneth Wong will participate.
Relocating art from Forum 5
Mahato and Lockwood asked to move the art to the LCW structure in order to make way for use of the building. An inspection of the LCW space will be held.
