Draft of Qualitative Equity Focused Hiring Rubric –
Draft of Qualitative Equity Focused Hiring Criteria Rubric was presented by the Tri-Chairs Christina, Heidi, and Mary. They asked that updates be emailed to them by next week’s meeting on March 16th. There remain necessary conversations around determining which positions fall into what “column”, analyzing responses to question, ranking and re-ranking positions as necessary, and ensuring transparency.
Retention Support Services - The team of Program Coordinator Patricia Del Rio, Student Success Specialist Sushini Chand, and Counselor Janet Weber have developed a Retention Support Services Presentation. The presentation, given by Del Rio and Chand, outlines a redesign of probation. Building relationships with students is emphasized and the negative connotation of probation is flipped to a positive one by adopting a student-centered compassionate approach. There was an ask for demographic data: Demographics of Students on Probation Spring 2020 Cohort (Associated with slide # 6)
Guided Pathways – The Villages - short video
The video began with the story of the creation of meta-majors and culminated in the vision of the villages. Questions from attendees affirmed that students would be able to move easily from one village to another, students may join multiple villages, and villages are designed for students to be able to explore majors that they might not otherwise have known about. Undeclared majors would be guided to the village that most closely matched their interests and students with undeclared majors would be quickly introduced to services that would assist them in exploring and choosing an academic pathway. Guided Pathways is an example of bringing resources to students and meeting students where they are at.
More information about Guided Pathways can be found on their webpage.
